Blue Glitter Sea Holly
Eryngium. Improved Blue Glitter has more intense silvery blue colouring than its older relatives. Thrives in hot and summy locations and adds such a flair of colour, texture and form. Spreads easily and reliably, even in salty, sandy soils making a spectacular ground cover. Height 8-12". 2.5" plug.

Growing Information
Upon Arrival:
Some Perennials will be shipped to you from our greenhouses. They will be in pots and may have actively growing green leaves. These pots should be immersed in water upon arrival to thoroughly soak the root ball. These growing plants must be hardened off before planting outside. Keep in a cool bright room, and place outside on mild days and gradually leave outside for longer periods of time. After a week or so, or when nighttime temperatures are above freezing, plant outside. If a severe dip in temperature is expected, you may want to place straw or an old blanket over the green leaves to protect them from severe damage. Frost or cold will not permanently hurt the plant, but it may damage the new leaves and set growth back.
Planting:
Plant in a fast-draining, infertile soil with full sun. Avoid clay soils. Mulch with gravel or not at all. Water regularly the first growing season to establish the plant. Thereafter, infrequent but deep watering is all this plant needs. Deadheading is not needed as it will not extend the bloom season or bring the plants back into flower. Fertilize lightly in the fall with a good quality compost.
Growing:
Eryngium is a tap rooted plant and does not like to be transplanted once established. Don't divide as tap rooted plants resent having their roots disturbed.Seed heads are ornamental and attract seed-eating songbirds.These are low care perennials that don't like rich soil or a lot of water; this makes the plants leggy and prone to flopping.
