Jambalaya Okra
An early maturing hybrid that is adaptable for a northern climate. Jambalaya grows on a compact plant that provides high yields of shiny, dark green pods. Okra is easy to grow and delicious in Cajun stews. For best flavour, pick pods when they are 3-4 inches long. Days to maturity 50-60 days from transplant. Approx. 20 seeds/pkg.

Growing Information
Planting:
Soak seeds in warm water for twenty-four hours before planting and keep the soil temperature at 75 degrees F or above. Soil should be fertile and high in potash with a pH of 6.0-6.8. Sow 1⁄4 inches deep in flats 7-8 weeks before transplanting. Germination may take up to two weeks.
Growing:
Transplant in a sunny location after last frost. Space 1-2 feet apart in rows 2 feet apart. Row covers or plastic mulch will encourage early pod set. Okra is a tropical plant therefore requiring warm weather conditions. Keep moist and fertilize well.
Harvest:
For most tender and flavourful quality, harvest when pods are 3-4 inches long and cook as soon as possible. Pick on a weekly basis to encourage continual fruit set.
