Kamome Pink Flowering Kale
Brassica oleracea. Extend the gardening season and add containers and plantings to fall displays with the Kamome series of Flowering Kale. While being frost tolerant, the cool temperatures bring out more colour in the plants. Night temperatures of 12°c or less for two weeks bring out the best colour. Plants grow 12" tall and wide. Start plants from middle of June to middle of July for timing of colour in fall. Approx. 50 seeds/pkg.

Growing Information
Planting:
Account for 90 days until first colour starts showing for seed starting time, usually in June or early July. Create a small hole to place seed in and cover lightly with soil or vermiculite. Use of a heat mat is not necessary but will speed up germination. Do not use a dome. Discontinue heat mat use once germination occurs. Up-potting will be required once roots grow through bottom of pot/tray. Keep soil moist until germination. After germination, let soil dry slightly between waters, do not let soil dry out hard at any point.
Growing:
Harden off plants once all chance of frost has passed over 3-5 days, in the shade if sunny. Do not let plants dry out hard if in pots or containers. Flowering Kale planted in the garden only needs water during establishment. Feed with a water-soluble annual flower fertilizer once a month. Over fertilizing can cause slow colouring of leaves at maturity.
