Very reliable producer. Crisp, dark-red leaves on 4-5” heads add sophistication to a salad. Indigo is a strong performing radicchio in both hot and cool weather but likes cool weather best. Maturity is 65-70 days. Approx. 50 seeds/pkg.

Radicchio
Planting:
Direct seed as soon as the ground can be worked, or once the soil has warmed to 15-18 degrees C. Provide frost protection when needed. Sow thinly 1⁄4 inches deep, thin seedling to 8-10 inches apart in beds or rows 12-18 inches apart. Grow in the spring and fall for best crop. Stagger seeding every 2 weeks until mid-summer to ensure long harvest.
Growing:
Radicchio prefers full sun, soil pH of 5.5-6.8, and rich soil with plenty of compost or well-rotted manure added prior to planting.
Harvesting:
Cut as soon as the heads are firm.
Pests & Diseases:
Slugs can cause problems with lettuce and can be controlled with slug bait.
Companions:
Lettuce; avoid planting with endive.
